As interior design becomes more popular among architects and designers, we looked back at the projects we did in the Office fit out, Interior Design, and Renovation categories over the past year to see if there were any design decisions or solutions that were generating trends. We uncovered a handful that may be useful in predicting how interiors will evolve over the next decade.
Biophilic Design
Indoor plants have added a whole new dimension to interior design projects, and enormous, giant plants are becoming increasingly popular. However, in the last year, a new idea known as Biophilic Design has gained popularity. Biophilic Design strives to incorporate nature into building architecture as a method to improve our health, psychology, and general ecology in order to retain a certain level of connection with nature. Reclaimed wood, hanging plants, green walls, and enormous green projects are just a few of the major themes that are influencing interior design in the coming decade.
Arches
Traditional architecture has archways, which are seeing a resurgence owing to architects and designers who are incorporating curving entrances, rounded windows, and arched mirrors into their interior design projects. Arches arise as a new approach to introduce curves and more organic shapes within our houses, not only through physical archways but also through artistic patterns painted on walls, in line with the Biophilic Design trends.
Colorful Bathrooms
Bathrooms have begun to embrace color in a daring yet beautiful way, corresponding to the increased use of bright and strong hues in walls and furnishings. Bathrooms no longer have to be brilliant white! Colors like light pink, golden yellow, navy blue, and olive green are being used by architects and designers to invigorate these key areas.
